Omg you are so cute haha
hahaha it’s back XD
I believe my work at Moe Moe Honey had all the markings of a rip-off unpaid internship. We were never referred to as “interns,” but we set up chairs and tables, her merchandise table, sold her merchandise, served food off a menu she and her manager created for jacked-up prices (and they had the nerve to charge customers (more like suckers) an entrance fee equal to the price of a full meal on top of that), played awkward games with awkward strangers while talking in fake falsetto “moe moe” voices, spent up to an hour cleaning up afterwards and inevitably would then be sat down and told how many things we fucked up and that we’re not getting any better and how can “we” (they) possibly continue to operate if we don’t tighten up, and we’d be lucky if we got even 5 minutes on stage to dance BEHIND her or even 30 seconds to state our names and do cute poses for an audience that could barely give a rat’s ass that we were there. And we were told all the same things: you’re going to be famous, you’re going to have so many opportunities when the media visits us, this is how we’ll break into the industry, eventually we’ll open up a location 7 days a week and YOU GUYS, you need to be ready! We can’t be here helping you along forever! And when that day came, that they opened that 7 days a week store offering actual hourly pay, they did not hire a single one of us. And none of us ever received compensation for all we did to make THEM famous. In fact, I’m now being told — 7 months after finally quitting, and with them now enjoying the success of their 7 days a week location, paying out generous hourly wages to a roster of 10-12 girls in matching uniforms that stand behind the counter all day looking pretty, none of whose faces we ever saw before while we were busting our asses, sweating through our non-matching uniforms, getting yelled at for the simplest mistakes, etc. — that the 5-6 remaining MMH girls (after everyone else also quit behind me) have basically been told they can continue to hang around and do their work if they want, but their services are no longer needed. Not in those direct words, because boy did they ever love to mince their words in my 2 and a half years there, but that’s essentially what they meant. They got what they wanted, they’re not interested in hiring any of us for their precious flagship location baby that we basically funded, and we can all fuck off.
Fuck you, Reni Mimura and Satoshi Yoshimura. I hope Maid Cafe NY goes bankrupt and you both go the fuck back to Japan and die early deaths busting your asses as hard as you busted ours.
